Puppies
"When are the puppies going to be here?" "Mommy, did the puppies come yet?" "Are they here yet?" "What's taking sooooo long?" I get bombarded with these questions as soon as the girls get up. Usually fifty times, ok well maybe not that many, in about an hour. This is the before school thing at the moment. Trying not to growl and be snarky, because the first awake has to start asking as I'm pouring my first cup of coffee (no matter how early I wake up), "When they get here. No. No. And why don't you ask them what's taking so long? They are probably all nice and comfy right where they are."
Now Baby is my one who is quite literal. She will look at me with the "huh?" look and then go an ask Rosie's tummy what's taking so long. Then she will tell the puppies to hurry up because she wants to see them NOW!
For right now, the puppies are the big thing going on and everyone's excited about them. I'm wondering how excited they will be when the pups start chewing on everything with their little razor-sharp teeth.

Math homework
Mama is learning how to find the area of squares and rectangles right now, not too hard. It would have been easier for her if she actually paid attention to the teacher more, but that's easier said than done. I showed her how to do the problem once and she understood. Somehow, she managed to go and get confused again.
Daddy goes to help her. Daddy is the math wizard in our house. He looks over her work and told her which ones were wrong and tried to explain to her why they were wrong. "But this is how the teacher showed us how to do it Daddy." He tries very hard to explain, but she's getting frustrated and he's starting to get upset. Shows her twice how to do it, and walks away. Mama is in tears because she doesn't know who to listen to.
She is a lot like me. She wears her heart on her sleeve, and gets very emotional very easy. It's worse once the confusion and frustration hit. There are big wet spots on her homework from her tears.
I asked her if it were possible that she got distracted while her teacher was explaining the material, immediately her head went down and she was fidgeting. Yup. That's what I figured.
Across the top of a blank sheet of paper I wrote the formula. Then I showed her some examples of how to do it. The light bulb turned on! Yay! Ten minutes later, the homework was done. This was after she had spent over an hour struggling with it.
I am so not looking forward to Middle and High School Math.

Have I Lost My Mind?
Giving up the comforts of having three grocery stores within a mile from my home, not to mention the two WalMarts and two Targets within 5 miles, is actually quite appealing to me. Knowing that I can grow just about anything that I want, without having to worry about the amount of land that I don't have now, is exciting. With the amounts of fruits and vegetables that my kids eat in a week, having an abundant supply will end up saving money. Also, I can still teach them something that they can take with them as they get older and, gulp, leave home. This is something that we can all be proud of while spending a higher quality of time together.
My hubby actually likes the idea. Or he did until I mentioned the cows, pigs, and chickens (I thought that I would leave out the horses at the time). I am on my own with the critters. My kids, especially Mama, like the whole idea of raising our own food.
So, hubby found the town. I found the ranch, or at least have an idea of the size that we would like to have. Now we just have to figure out the money for it, which will eventually fall into place.
Please feel free to leave comments. I would like to hear what y'all think about it. Thanks!

First Week of School
My ten year old, whom I call Mama, asked me to go and buy book covers for her textbooks. Buy book covers! What ever happened to using paper bags and make them, like we did when I was growing up? Luckily for me, she liked the idea of making them. Out came the paper bags, permanent markers (I have the giant package that Bic makes with over 30 colors), scissors and tape. I covered the books and she got to be creative on the covers. Mama loves to use her imagination too, so that was a big plus.
Some of the kids in her class like her paper bag book covers! You can doodle (without using up all your school paper) and learn at the same time. What a concept! Why spend $4.00-ish on cloth book covers that don't always fit the books when you can go free?

Mommy, I love Kindergarten!
"Mommy. Mommy. MOMMY!"
"Yes, baby"
"MOMMY! Guess what!" At this point I thought that she was about to explode with excitement.
"What baby?" I'm trying to keep from giggling, because she's so excited and very animated.
"I went to Kindergarten today! I like kindergarten! My teacher is very nice too!" Then she turns and runs to Daddy to tell him the news.
She had to have said Daddy thirty times before he even got a chance to say yes. Then she started yelling and patting his arm, "Yes baby. Why are you so excited?" So, she told him what she had just told me and then started dancing around the house. She is such a little goof.
Now, my other two girls were not nearly as excited. They were very happy with their teachers and liked their first day of school as well.
During dinner Baby was telling us all about her day, yet again.
"Guess what Baby."
"What Mommy?"
"You like kindergarten a lot, right?"
"Yes."
"You get to go again tomorrow!"
Now we all got to see her go into another fit of excitement. "Yay! I get to go again!"
She fell asleep singing "I get to go to school in the morning."
We'll see how long this lasts.

First Day of School
My dog, Rosie has no one to play with, so she's laying here quietly by my side. My little furry Mama-to-be needs her rest, so I think that I am going to follow her lead and relax as well.

School Supply Shopping
Our school district keeps the supply list posted online all year, mainly for those who move into the area during the school year. In stead of taking advantage of this fact and getting the supplies throughout the summer, everyone waits, and waits, and waits some more. Next thing you know, school starts in two weeks. And of course, retailers never have enough of anything that's on the supply list at this time of the year.
"OMG, school starts in two weeks!!! What do we do?"
Everyone then converges on the nearest store to get their stuff, this is when the real "fun" begins. There are not enough supplies or open check-out counters to meet the needs of the people, which I think is intentional. The extra employees are watching everything going on via the security cameras, while sipping on their sodas, eating their popcorn, and getting a good giggle in every now and then. After all, this is better than a movie. It's got action, drama and suspense. Who's going to be the next person almost run over by a crazy-mad shopping cart?
School supply shopping should be an Olympic Sport, in my opinion. You need the speed of a runner in order to grab that last pack of colored pencils on the shelf without getting run over. The agility and dexterity of a gymnast to dodge the cart that is being pushed in your direction. Also, you need to be able to withstand a direct hit from one of the carts without crumbling to your knees in pain, and for that you need the strength and stability of a wrestler and football player combined.
Fortunately we have everything on the list for all three kids. We just have to dodge a few of the crazy-mad shopping carts for just a couple of things needed for the school clothes. Joy!

Last Weekend of Summer
Last night was the Open House, and so far I am quite happy about their teachers. We will see how the year progresses.
I am going to have almost eight hours of peace and quiet! What is that? It might almost be too quiet for me. Just for a few weeks, at least. We are expecting puppies later in the month, so my time will be put to good use then.
Ciao.

My Girls
Someone had told me that girls were easier to raise than boys. Yeah, right. I don’t know. I had the pleasure of having my sister-in-law and her boys stay for a couple of weeks with us. They were all just as loud, jumpy, boisterous and obnoxious as each other. The only thing that was different, in my eyes, was the fact that my girls have the Diva-in-Training attitude. What a pleasurable thing! Really, no it’s not.
Thankfully we don’t have a severe case of Diva-itis in our house, but just the moderate case is bad enough. My youngest has the biggest case of Diva-it is, and the older two are catching up (or trying to at least).
Upon being caught getting in trouble, the first look is the “But Mommy, I didn’t do it” look with the sad little puppy-dog eyes. Then they realize that they were actually caught. Next comes the “I love you so much, that I was getting this for you” with a big hug. At this point they then further realize that it still isn’t working, especially after getting told to go sit on their bed until called. The hands on hips with the “How dare you” look comes right before they turn, flick their hair, and stomp off shaking their itty-bitty, non-existent hips to their rooms. Drama Queens. It is very aggravating, yet at the same time a little funny to watch them storm off.
I’m not looking forward to them growing up, but at the same time I can’t wait to see their boyfriend’s reaction to it. As I sit here writing this I can’t help grinning thinking about this.
I am so not ready for them to grow up, but I guess that I have to let them at some point in time. I can only imagine how much harder it’s going to be for my husband, he’s definitely not ready for his “babies” to grow up.

Friends
Friends are not just the people that we come across and physically meet, but also people that we meet and get to know through various internet sites. I have just a few people whom I have had the pleasure to meet and call friends, yet many that I have only met online and call friends.
All of my friends, whether online or in person, all mean a lot to me. It's like having a giant extended family that you get to choose, especially since we cannot choose our own family. They are all very close to my heart and there is nothing that I wouldn't do for any of them.
My closest and best friend and I have known each other since we were five years old, and even though we may not speak to each other as often as we would like, we can still finish each others sentences. We think alike and we can tell when something is wrong without talking.
My “invisi” friends are a very wonderful bunch of people as well. There have been numerous times that I have been a little sad, and next thing I know there’s a little card in the mail that just says “I’m thinking of you. I hope that all is well.” Those little things can make anyone feel better. I’ve even had one of them call me just to make sure that all was okay, just because I hadn’t been online and chatted in a week. I do the same for them as well.
This reminds me, I have some ecards that are in need of sending for all of my friends!
Ciao to all!

Just a Quick Introduction...
I am a stay-at-home mom of three wonderful girls. Then, what parent doesn't think that they have wonderful children? Even with all the bickering and complaining they do, they are the lights of my life. They are the best things that have happened to me.
My husband is my rock that keeps me strong, my knight in shining armor who keeps me safe, and the love of my life. We have been married for thirteen exciting years.
