Have I Lost My Mind?

Well, it's official. I might have finally lost my mind (or what's left of it)! I am at the point in life to where I am ready to turn in the comforts of suburban living in exchange for a small ranch in east Texas.

Giving up the comforts of having three grocery stores within a mile from my home, not to mention the two WalMarts and two Targets within 5 miles, is actually quite appealing to me. Knowing that I can grow just about anything that I want, without having to worry about the amount of land that I don't have now, is exciting. With the amounts of fruits and vegetables that my kids eat in a week, having an abundant supply will end up saving money. Also, I can still teach them something that they can take with them as they get older and, gulp, leave home. This is something that we can all be proud of while spending a higher quality of time together.

My hubby actually likes the idea. Or he did until I mentioned the cows, pigs, and chickens (I thought that I would leave out the horses at the time). I am on my own with the critters. My kids, especially Mama, like the whole idea of raising our own food.

So, hubby found the town. I found the ranch, or at least have an idea of the size that we would like to have. Now we just have to figure out the money for it, which will eventually fall into place.

Please feel free to leave comments. I would like to hear what y'all think about it. Thanks!

Ciao.

Wow - you are one brave momma to leave Target and Walmart in such close proximity :)

I don't think I could do it, but I'm very impressed that you want to. Keep us all posted.

It's going to be a lot of baby steps, but we'll get there.

Thank you for your comment, it makes me feel better about the idea. Support just about always yields a positive out come.
